What is a wood fire hot tub / jacuzzi?

Let’s be honest, hot tubs are no new inventions, they just go by the trade name Jacuzzi these days. As a matter of fact – they date back to as soon as the 4th century BC. Back in these days they used to place hot stones in marble tubs to heat up their Greek waters.

Even though wood fired hot tubs feels like we’re taking things back in time, these baths certainly come with a more modern coil twist and a tad more affordable tub material than marble – however, the wood fire heating system still preserves that element and feeling of taking things back to basics. Just imagine lounging it back in an ancient marble hot tub on a Greek island!

A wood fire hot tub is exactly like a normal jacuzzi, but also not exactly like a normal jacuzzi. They come without the jets, micro air jets and of course, the electric pump. Wood fire hot tubs, on the other hand, comes with a little oven attached. This is where you and your buddy, Fred Flinstone, can figure out how to light the fire… and somehow keep it lit.

There is an oddly satisfying and grounding feeling about using a wood fire hot tub. Whether it is the primal feeling when heating the water yourself, or whether it’s a way to reconnect with nature is totally up for discussion.

How exactly do these hot tubs work?

As mentioned above, the wood fired hot tub comes without all the extra gadgets and components a normal Jacuzzi would have had, as these tubs takes things off the grid by purely relying on the burning wood or coal to get this hydrotherapy session going.

The water exits the tub and enters the attached oven at the bottom of the oven via a stainless-steel pipe. Thanks to water’s physical properties and our friend gravity, the heated water rises through a twisted coil and exists the oven via a separate elevated stainless-steel pipe, back into the jacuzzi. This circulation is completely free of noise except for the therapeutic crackling sound of the burning wood.

This process takes about two to three hours to heat the hot tub to an optimal temperature. The time it takes to heat up vary based on the size of your tub and can be speeded up by keeping the tub’s cover on – just like a normal Jacuzzi.

Why opt for a wood fired hot tub?

Most people invest in this option for the therapeutic benefits, but mostly they get installed at some mountain or remote cottages where the electricity supply is either not sufficient or completely unavailable. These baths also get purchased by environmentally conscious individuals who likes to make a change where possible.
